HISTORY1998-1999 • Site consisted of six static pages and had not been updated in six months • Eight seniors taught me everything they knew about web design • Site grew to over 300 pages, and won “Cool School of the Week”
1999-2000 • Won Cool School of the Year by Education World • Named Best High School Website in the USA by Cisco Systems • Received $10,000 from Cisco
2000-2001 • Web design first offered as an elective • 40 students took the class • Site grew to over 3,000 pages • Following Year- went from full time math to full time Web Design

Web Design • Hands-on class building the Kenston High School Website • It takes about three weeks to teach the basics • Students are assigned sections to maintain, and are encouraged to select areas of their interest • Like Yearbook…

Instruction • Demonstration on Viewing Screen • Students practice on computer • Student resources all electronic: • Step by step tutorials on the Web Design Home Page • “Class Notes” file kept in MS Word • Assignment due dates done in Excel • Daily Log files on Goggle Docs
Grading • Class Participation • Two lead articles per quarter • Maintenance of assigned section on site and / or developing new section(s) of site • Final exam • Infinite Campus updated weekly
