3. About Us… Marbury & Associates, comprehensive mental health services is a private practice located on the boarder of South Euclid & University Heights, Ohio, suburbs of Cleveland.
All counselors servicing consumers are state of Ohio licensed, insured and their practice governed by the American Counseling Association code of ethics and standards of practice.
We provide a number of counseling services for children, adolescents, and adults. We provide specialized services for counseling the culturally diverse.

4. Ja’Nitta Marbury, Ph.D., PCC-S Dr. Ja’Nitta Marbury is a supervising professional clinical counselor who started this private practice with a vision of the future of mental health. Her need to provide high quality culturally competent mental health services to consumers is the source of her vision and Marbury & Associates Comprehensive Mental Health Services is the manifestation of her dream. In an effort to bridge the quality of service gap between private practice and community mental health Marbury & Associates developed Alternatives: Center for Mental Wellness. The Alternatives Center is the nonprofit side of the practice allowing for additional services.
5. Counseling Environment The negative institutional stigma that is attached to mental health and wellness often deters those who need the services the most.
Here at Marbury & Associates we have removed the institutional stigma from our environment. Our individual and group counseling offices are set up like living rooms with sofa’s end tables, soft lighting and other home style amenities, to facilitate the feeling of comfort for our consumers.

8. Types of Counseling Here at Marbury & Associates, the mental wellness professionals are state of Ohio Licensed Professional Counselors (PC) & Professional Clinical Counselors (PCC). A PC under supervision can provide the same services as a PCC. A PCC can do everything a psychologist can do the differences are in the training and education.
Psychology is more research based while counseling is more practical application based. Counselors are trained from the beginning to have careers working with people not conducting experiments. Psychologists must have a Ph.D. to be licensed and practice, while counselors have to have a Masters degree and a lot of clinical experience.

However many counselors do have Ph.D.'s. The primary forms of counseling conducted here are crisis intervention, individual counseling, group counseling, and pre-marital counseling.
Occasionally we provide marriage and family therapy when we have an intern or employee who specializes in that area.
We also contract with other
mental health providers to offer
nontraditional forms of therapy
such as Play & Art Therapy.
10. Neurotherapy is a process by which brain waves are naturally elevated through synchronizing with rhythmic stimulation. Some Advantages are:
Treatment can be use in addition to or in lieu of medication (at the consumers discretion)

12. Assessment & Testing
Purpose of Assessments
The purpose of assessment and testing in mental health is to aid the mental health professional in the evaluation of an individual in a problematic situation such that the information gained through the assessment can help in solving the problem. The assessments are only a means of gathering data on the individual subject of the test.
Single Assessment
Single assessments are usually used to produce valid information on a specific individual trait.
13. Assessment & Testing (continued) Battery Assessment
The purpose of administering a battery of tests is to produce a big picture about the client being assessed. Raw scores are never reported to clients due to the complexity of test interpretation. Battery assessments include a clinical interview.
Assessment Reporting
All raw test data in single assessments and battery assessments are interpreted by the assessor and written in a narrative report form. Test scores are interpreted considering individual difference, presenting problem, and the general context of the person’s life.

Upon becoming a client at Marbury & Associates, we may have reason to disclose your mental health information for the following situations

18. Research Marbury & Associates has a nonprofit subsidiary named Alternatives: Center for Mental Wellness. Through the nonprofit and also in conjunction with it we conduct research funded through grants at the state, federal and private funding levels.
Human subjects guidelines are followed for all participants.
Parents of all minor participants must fill out a permission form before their child may participate.
We do not conduct any drug related research.
If a consumer of our services may benefit from participation in research the opportunity will be offered to them.
Research participants can discontinue participation at anytime without penalty.
19. Additional Services Available in 2008-2009 Marbury & Associates has continued to progress in thinking outside the box and has elected to bridge the mental health gap with services in other areas-which include:

20. Mobile Therapy Unit The concept of mobile therapy was developed as a more cost effective method to reach out to more consumers for our services.
As a result we have a mobile therapy unit that is set up like our regular offices and travels to various locations in Ohio bringing therapy to the consumer.
21. Residential Program The Hope House Project is an innovative option available to adolescents aging out of the foster care system. The goal of this project is to provide a residence to adolescents with a family like environment to cultivate their emotional growth and development. Residents will participate in programming to develop their independent living skills resulting in an increase in the likelihood of beginning a successful adult life.

23. Child Development Center In an attempt to bridge the gap between counseling services and education we will have a child development center. This center will offer:
Monitoring and charting of the child social, emotional, moral and psychological development.
The educational component will include Montessori methodology
Counseling to facilitate appropriate social, emotional, and psychological development will be provided as part of the curriculum
Individual counseling services
will be provided by Marbury
& Associates staff on site at
the center.
