Jeffery David Whippo Explains the Difference Between Democratic Socialism and Social Democracy • Jeffery David Whippo states that both terms are considered same in today’s political environment, but they are completely different ideologies. • He points that social democracy is not socialism at all. • He states that social democracy is regulated capitalism that primarily focuses on creating welfare state. • A social democratic would work to provide a basic lifestyle for people and adequate food, clothing and housing, and medical care and education that help any child to grow up to what he or she wants to be and be prepared for the unpredictable future due to climate change.

He Further States that Social Democracy is a Reformist Approach • He considers social democracy a reformist approach that regulates its entirety, provides public services and substantial welfare within the frame of an essentially market led economy. • Furthermore, it supports an ideology of free education, regulating financial institutions, regulating industry, free healthcare, free childcare, free care for the elderly, and higher infrastructure spending. • In addition, it supports higher taxation on the wealthy.
