JT-60U and JET: Fast ions • Fast ions contribution to the total pressure is very important for hybrid scenarios in JT-60U and in some JET shots. Can reach up from 35% up to 45% of the total pressure • Analysis of the impact is carried out in the core (turbulence) and in the edge (MHD) • GENE gyrokinetik code used for analyzing electromagnetic turbulence (necessary because of high beta) • Peeling ballooning MHD ideal analysis performed with MISHKA ISM Garching 15 March2013
Equilibrium is calculated with interpretative analysis done with CRONOS. With and without fast ions • This equilibrium is calculated for turbulence and MHD analysis • Equilibrium is highly modified by fast ions with a high impact on Shafranov-shift • βN,total(75225)=2.9, βN,thermal(75225)=2.15, βN,total(48158)=2.6, βN,thermal(48158)=1.8 ISM Garching 15 March2013
The peeling ballooning diagram is modified by the fast ions. This allows for higher pedestal pressure due to Shafranov shift • Turbulence analysis performed at r=0.33 • ITG modes highly reduced due to the fast ions • Improvement confinement obtained from the edge and the core due to the strong modification of plasma geometry due to fast ions • Interaction between turbulence and MHD through fast ions allow higher confinement in low density hybrids • The same analysis will be carried out for more JET and JT-60U shots and ITER hybrid ISM Garching 15 March2013
