Site Visuals ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN STUDIO 2 (ARC 1126) PROJECT 2C : TEA HOUSE Site Montage Design Concept & Idea This tea house project is a development from the ‘Tea for Two’ pavilion design, which concept was based on the organic and linear shape of the square. This idea came from the Korean tea culture, whereby tea was made and prepared on a square mat. It is from this that the concept of the square is taken and explored with, and each design is developed further and further based on that concept. The square can be stretched into a rectangle, and combined with one another to form interesting designs. Besides that, the straight lines and the linear form of the square and rectangle provide a sense of order, balance and symmetry, which gives a sense of peace and tranquillity that a tea drinking culture embodies. ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN STUDIO 2 (ARC 1126) PROJECT 2C : TEA HOUSE Building Construction & Materials Architectural Drawings The final tea house is an interesting twist of the box design, which celebrates the open spaces, as well as the light, clean and elegant structure this style of architecture offers. This style remains popular even after 70 years, and responds well to the indoor and outdoor transitions. It is perfect for a site like Cameron Highlands, where the outdoor space should be engaged with as much as possible. TAN HUI XIAN 0311719
