  1. Sharing Lunar Exploration with the World: Examples from the Moon Mineralogy Mapper (M3) Education / Public Outreach Program Cassandra Runyon, PhD College of Charleston & the M3 Science and EPO Teams

  2. Chandrayaan-1 / Moon Mineralogy Mapper (M3 )Education / Public Outreach (E/PO) Interactive activities, data analyses, educational technologies, professional development, social networking, WWW and partner networks M3 helping to unlock the mysteries of the Moon

  3. E/PO ProgramTightly Connected to M3 Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) M3 curricular activities support instrument science goals • Support NASA’s education program • Activities link to NASA’s Science Mission Directorate themes, ensuring a broader reach • Align with US National Science and Math Education Standards • Strengthen and leverage NASA’s Science Mission Directorate (SMD) cross-thematic efforts (e.g., Sun, Earth, & Solar System) • Encourage 21st Century Skill development (e.g., technology use for data collection & analyses) M3Primary Science Goal: Characterize and map the lunar surface composition in the context of its geologic evolution. This translates into several science sub-topics. M3Primary Exploration Goal: Assess and map the Moon’s mineral resources at high spatial resolution to support planning for future, targeted missions.
