  2. A. 1- Status Significant efforts to adopt and implement policies on SCP in different sectors focusing on: Energy; Water; Rural Development; Tourism; Education and Lifestyles. Results are still limited in general and varies among Member Countries in nature. 10 Years Framework for SCP Status and Progress Achieved

A.2 Progress Achieved On Energy: Increased modern energy services to rural and remote areas; Promoting renewable energy technologies applications; Promoting projects for electric and natural gas networks; 10 Years Framework for SCP Status and Progress Achieved • Encouraging the participation of the private sector • Improving energy efficiency and expanding the use of cleaner fuel.

  4. On Water Resources : Adopting the integrated water resources management approach; Supporting efforts to develop alternative water resources and water quality standards; Increasing public awareness of sustainable water consumption. On rural development and alleviation of poverty: Improving the infrastructure in rural areas and encouraging SME’s; Improving access to education, health services, water and sanitation while achieving gender equality; Encouraging sustainable agricultural practices. 10 Years Framework for SCP A.2 Progress Achieved (Contd.)

On Education and Sustainable Lifestyles: Development of national strategies and programmes for education and eradication of illiteracy; Integrating the SCP issues and sustainable lifestyle in formal curricula; Enhancing the standards of “green” buildings; Raising awareness through the media and NGOs. 10 Years Framework for SCP A.2 Progress Achieved (Contd.)

In the energy sector: Disseminating renewable energy in rural areas Establishing a partnership on energy efficiency in the Arab region In water Resources Management: Improving water efficiency; Managing common water resources; Safe use of sanitation water. In Sustainable Tourism: Achieving the sustainability of tourist processes; Developing integrated management for tourist regions. In Education and Sustainable Lifestyles: Capacity-building of young people in achieving sustainable consumption and production patterns in all sectors; Training government procurement experts on green procurement; 10 Years Framework for SCP Priority Areas for Action
