  2. March 11, Friday, At 14:46 Japan local time At 2:46 pm, on March 11, 2011, a magnitude 9.0 earthquake, one of the largest ever recorded, struck the northern part of Japan.

  3. 500 km • The focal region of the earthquake was extremely extensive. It reached approximately 500km from north to south, and approximately 200km from east to west.

  4. Tsunami • By this earthquake, massive tsunamis more than 10 meters were generated and brought crushing damage in the coast of Pacific of the Tohoku district.
