Joint Action on Health Workforce Planning and Forecasting Work Package 2 Knowledge Brokers Network European Health Management Association Jeni Bremner & Paul Giepmans Brussels – April 11, 2013
Aim of the Knowledge Brokers Network 2 • Promoting the JA and its results • Providing key information to the JA • Supporting the development of national and professional platforms for health workforce planning and forecasting
Outcomes • Developing better planning mechanisms • Higher quality of Joint Action deliverables • Sustainable national networks
Profile of knowledge brokers • Expertise workforce data/methodologies NOT required • Can be employed by any organisation • Needs to have access to political decision making and the most relevant actors • Informed on national policies and current state-of-play on national workforce planning initiatives • Professional interest in better workforce planning
Ways of working • Minimum involvement of 10 days/year • WP2 team manages/filters requests for input from JA partners • Guidelines for WP leaders • Random requests to knowledge brokers – up to individuals to follow-up
Time lines for setting up the network • Other WPs depend on the (quality of) knowledge brokers – need to start fast and well • Aim: have the network by 1 June 2013 • In case some partners have designated none, the main contact person of the JA will be assigned as default (might be you!)
‘Blind-date’ session • Group in pairs and think of 1 question you would ask 1 candidate • Together we quiz the candidates • Together we find an excellent knowledge broker! • Reflections from Jeni
‘Blind-date’ session • Write down 1 question you would ask in finding the right knowledge broker for your country
Open discussion around knowledge broker network • Questions, comments and suggestions?
