Education Inequalities • Black dropout rates from school higher than whites ( 13% compared to 9%) • Blacks less likely to go onto further or higher education • Blacks less likely to study science and maths • Ghetto schools under-staffed and under-funded
Housing Inequalities • Blacks concentrated in inner city areas. Areas of multiple deprivation • Residential segregation • White Flight
Crime Inequalities • Crime more likely to happen in inner city areas. Therefore blacks more likely to victims of crime. • Greater chance of arrest and imprisonment if black • Gang crime increasing • Close relationship with Gangs and drugs
Economic Inequality • Employment prospects • Standard of Living • The cycle of poverty
Political Inequality • Ethnic groups tend to have a low level of participation in politics. Therefore don’t have as much access to decision makers that might improve their lives • Also been cutbacks in welfare payments in recent years
