PSA: SCAM! • To: UNC Charlotte Faculty and Staff • Subject: Email Phishing Scam • Another email phishing scam targeted at University faculty, staff and students started showing up in email boxes today. In this latest phishing attempt, recipients received an email claiming to be from "ITS HELP DESK" and claiming that vital maintenance on the university account database is going on and that “…To confirm and to keep your Charlotte University Account active during and after this process, please reply to this message with the below account informations…..” • The scam then requests the account holder’s username and password. • Please be assured that this is a hoax. • Be aware that these emails are NOT real. The University will NOT request your password in order to resolve an account problem. You should never respond to an unsolicited email requesting your account password. • If you have received an email like this and have questions or concerns, please contact the Faculty/Staff Help Center at 704.687.3100. • Information & Technology Services
