  4. Self Esteem • Self-Esteem: Part of the self-concept that involves evaluations of self-worth. Self Concept: “I am shy” Self-Esteem: “I like that I am shy”

  7. Our Interactions with Others • Reflected Appraisal- a concept that suggests we learn who we are based upon our interactions with others, which are reflected back to us.

  15. Self-Fulfilling Prophecy • Four Step Process: • Hold and Expectation • Behave in Accordance • The Expectation Comes True • Reinforce the Original Expectation

  16. Example • I expect to get a good grade on my exam because I studied my butt off!! I know the material and I can do it! • Take the test with confidence • Pass the test with an A • I knew I could do it!! 
