Preventing Bullying by Promoting a Positive School Climate & Self-Discipline • 2 Part Workshop • December 14, 2012 • April 19, 2013 • Topics include: • Extent to which different forms of bullying are found in  DE schools, and ways to measure bullying • How bullying is related to school climate and self-discipline • Components of school climate and the social and emotional competencies that underlie self-discipline, particularly those related to bullying. • Evidence-based & practical strategies for preventing bullying, promoting positive school climate, and social & emotional competencies of self-discipline.

DE Assessment of Strengths and Needs for PBS (DASNPBS) • Part A – School-wide Tier 1 DASNPBS available Purpose: • Self-Assessment and Reflection • Schoolwide Assessment and Reflection • Action Planning • Professional Development Plans • Considerations for teams • Exploring different sections • Encourage schools not having a KF-PBS Evaluation to participate • Tutorial – Data interpretation

  13. Discipline Data Reporting Tool (DDRT) • Request that schools complete and submit to their district coaches and DE-PBS project. • January 18th: August 2012 – December 2012 • June 28th: August 2012-June 2013 • Templates and online tutorial available 

  14. DE-PBS Key Feature Evaluation • SCHEDULING: • 12 evaluations scheduled through December; 7 completed • Scheduling for January has started • Goal is 40 this year! • Thank you, Coaches!

Next Steps • Fall 2012 schools will receive feedback report sans level ranking • KF-Evaluation Report review with coach &/or team • With Fall 2012 data set, may look at tweaking level cut offs • Development team exploring additional questions: • Categorizing schools based on results • Aligning evaluation level with phases of recognition • Other thoughts?
