Ex) What is a method of stopping cancerous cells from dividing without damaging healthy cells? Ex) What effects will the Gulf oil catastrophe have on marine food webs? Ex) What is the benefit of infanticide in langur monkeys?

    11. Life What is life? You and everything around you is made up of trillions of various atoms (a combination of protons, neutrons, and elections) that combine together in various ways. Matter is anything that has mass and takes up space. What is the difference between living matter and nonliving matter?

    12. Life What characteristics must a grouping of matter have to make it living (or once living)? Compare yourself with a computer. Both are matter, but only you are living. Why?

Characteristics of Life Contest Each group will be assigned 1 characteristic Each member needs to read about the characteristic in the green book Each group will design a poster that illustrates their characteristic in detail. Use more than one type of organism to illustrate the characteristic. Lots of Detail + lots of examples + visually appealing = good work! I will pick a winning group for each characteristic among all of my periods (1,3,4,5,6,and 7) Presentations will be on Monday
