  2. Clothing • Can you imagine not wearing blue jeans? Girls can you imaging having to wear a dress all the time? If you were born and raised Amish all of your clothes would be home made and would be very simple.

  3. Dressing as a boy Boys you would wear dark blue or black pants held up not by a belt but by suspenders, your button up shirt would be all the color you would get to wear. Depending on what you were doing that day would decide what color shows you would wear; brown for work and black for special occasions. There would be no Mohawk or spiky hair styles. The men and boys in the Amish community hair cut was with no style and their bangs brushed down. As the boys turned into men they grew a beard not a mustache a full beard.

  4. Dressing as a girl • Girls and women wear full skirted dresses that tend to be a solid color except black. Yes the Amish have black dresses for special occasions. An apron I also worn over the dress, the girls also have to wear black shoes and stockings when they are going to public. No cute pixie cut for the girls, the Amish women wear their hair uncut and combed away from their face. Their hairs is long due to not having a hair cut so their hair is twisted up into a bun and placed into a white or black cap. Amish women do not wear jewelry or make up at all.

  5. School • The Amish believe strongly in education, but only provide formal education through the eighth grade and only in their own private schools. The Amish are exempt from state compulsory attendance beyond the eighth grade based on religious principles, the result of a 1972 U.S. Supreme Court ruling. • One-room Amish schools are private institutions, operated by Amish parents. Schooling concentrates on the basic reading, writing, math and geography, along with vocational training and socialization in Amish history and values. Education is also a big part of home life, with farming and homemaking skills considered an important part of an Amish child's upbringing.
