Steps to finding a shaded region • Identify the shapes in the picture • Calculate the area of the shape that is shaded (even if there are holes cut out!) • Calculate the area of the shape being cut out • Subtract the two areas to find what’s left! • Make sure to check you only take out what would overlap the shaded figure!
