Roles of the Church • Baptism • Confirmation • Marriages • Holy Order • Penance • Confessions
Art and Architecture • Most art was religious • Art was substitute for literature • Most people were illiterate • Churches built in Gothic Style • Gothic style included long, tall structures
Benedictine Rule • Benedict changed monk system • Three rules were: Obedience, Stability, Conversion • Monasteries like Manors
Rise of Cathedrals • Mass and administered sacraments took place in these Cathedrals • These larger buildings were called cathedrals • These cathedrals were built in Gothic Style.
