Homework – 10% • Tests/Projects – 35% • Quizzes – 30% • Classwork – 25% How will you be graded?
Be seated and working when the bell rings. This means you need to: • Grab the folder for your group if you are the first person to get to class from your group. • Sharpen pencils when you first enter and get to work. • Look for the warm-up which will be posted on the board and/or in School Space. #1
Bring all of your materials with you AND take them with you when you leave. #2
Treat each person in the room with dignity and respect. • Golden Tickets can be earned for being responsible, respectful, helpful and kind during class. #3
Please follow all directions when they are given. • We do not want to waste class learning time. You can earn stamps for classroom Preferred Activity Time (PAT) when you follow directions the first time. #4
Follow ALL policies and guidelines in the school hand book. #5
This classroom is a “No Whining Zone”. That means there will be no whining for any reason! Everything that I do is in your best interest, so please do not whine. #6
Consequences for Not Following Guidelines: • 1st - Think It Over – warning card • 2nd – Action Plan, parent contact • 30 minute FRIDAY Detention • 3rd – disciplinary referral Consequences
AND THINK! • Take a deep breath • Ask yourself, am I being responsible, respectful, or helpful? If not, why not? • Write out a potential solution for the issue. • See me after class. #1 - THINK IT OVER – warning card
The Action Plan will: • Be written by student • Describe the Problem • Describe the Action Plan for Solving the Problem • Signed by Ms. Ford. • Must be signed by guardian – guardian will be notified • Friday detention required ACTION PLAN
6th Grade Homework Policy • Homework will be graded for completion and effort. • Incomplete homework will receive a 50%. Late Homework Policy
8th Grade Homework Policy • Incomplete homework will receive a 50%; specifically: • If it is not done before class, you may make it up during class (fill in as we review). • If you chose not to make it up at all, you will receive a 0%. Late Homework Policy
Work on unfinished Science work • Pick an activity from the weather balloon – file into journal • Make a vocabulary card/picture for The Big Book • Read a science related article & reflect in your journal (pick a prompt from box) • Start working on tonight’s homework What to do if you finish early
Go to the Absent folder for your block • Grab the sheet filled out for you • Retrieve handouts from the bins • Sign the notebook • No make-up work for unexcused absences MAKE UP TESTS– Schedule to be determined For an excused absence

File Manager – gets folder, turns in at end of class • Supplies Manager – gets group supplies • Safety Manager – make sure everyone is wearing appropriate safety gear during experiments (googles, gloves, etc.) • Clean-Up Manager – make sure area is clean, stools under tables Classroom Managers
