AMS • The ideaistoavoiddisconnectorsbydisconnectingstandardconnectors. • Someofthe AMS connectorsshallbeoperatedunder Hot lineworkingconditions (145kV) = „Hot pluggable“ • Other connectorstobeoperatedwithoutvoltage(275-400kV), (SubCondeveloped a widerangeoftheseconnectortypes but theyare not infocusoftodayspresentation
AMS – Hot pluggableconnectortillnow • The currentdesignsofclampsare just combinationsofexistingclampswithsomeaddedelementstomakethepartscaptive • Currentpracticesofoperatingof such connectorsarequitedifficult in handling
All thisdoes not takethereliabilityofthesecontactsintoconsideration ! • „normal“ connectorsare NOTdesignedtobedismatledoften • The arcduringoperationmightdamagethecontactsurfaces • Itis not possibletobrush/clean thecontactsurfacesof live partsofclamp • The necessaryhighbolttorquesettingshardlycanbeappliedbyisolatedrods.
The technicalrequirementfor AMS connectors • ElectricalContacttobedesignedproperlytakingthefollowingintoconsiderationtoavoid Hot-spots: - multiple operation- lowboltforces (tighteningwithrods !) - difficulties in preparation • Ensuresafeand easy handlingwithrodsby:- boltswithlowtorquesettingsfrombottomside- captivecomponents- centeringhelp • ControlledArcbehaviorbydefinedarcingpoint
