School Board • Adopt policies, plans, and procedures for the school that are consistent with the mission, vision, and beliefs of Annur Islamic School. • Provide adequate support and resources to the school principal and empower him to execute the school’s mission and day-to-day operations. • Hold the principal accountable for school performance. • Plan yearly budgets and raise funds to meet school’s operational and growth needs.
IT infrastructure • Expand internet service to all buildings including the new portables. • Upgrade school server • Few classrooms have projectors and screens and we are aiming to have smart projectors • Plans are in place to have all portable classrooms to have the same technology.
Scholarship • Deadline for Application is March 30th, 2011 • All forms must be completed by March 30th. Incomplete application will not be processed • Parents need to have backup plan since some classes have limited spacing. Priority will be given to currently enrolled students, their siblings, orphans and needy.
Enrollment for 2011-2012 • Early registration will begin April 1, 2011 until the end of the month. • There will be an increase in student’s tuition next year to keep up with increases in cost and added/improved services and facilities.
AIS Financial Sources Major Income Sources • Fees and tuition • Fund raising and donations (zakat & sadaqaat) • Company matching funds • Grants (School Districts) • Other sources from parents activities (PTO) • Cost of educating a student at AIS is $3800 versus at public school is $10,000.
AIS Financial Output Major Expenses • Staff salaries and benefits • Partial financial scholarships, sibling discounts • Operational expenses, reference books, buying resources, students gifts, utilities, insurance, etc..
School Composition • On a day to day activities a school is run by the principal who is supervised by a School Board. • The teachers & staff implement the school goals & objectives & report only to the principal. • The students are learners who follow teachers’instruction to succeed, & who follow school rules & regulations in order to stay in school. • Parents are their children’s overseers, & supporters of the teachers & the school administration.
Mission-Vision-Goals (M) To promote excellence in academic achievement, as based on state standards, standardized testing & school/student character. To promote excellence in adab (manners) based on the teachings of Islam. This includes taking on responsibility to Allah, & to fellow mankind, & respecting others. (V) To achieve highest educational standards as a model Islamic school in America. (G) To prepare our graduates to assume leadership roles educationally, socially, and religiously.
School Growth / Demographic • We grew from few students in the 90’s to 150 today 2011 (PreK to 8th grade). • Currently elementary classes are full and we have full time teachers and part time ones, in addition to three TA’s. • Volunteers (parents & college students) are always ready to help the school. • Projected growth for next year is 175 students.
Academic Emphasis • Reading/writing/comprehension Language Skills • Critical Thinking (Math and Science). • Islamic Character Development. • Academic Competitions. • Reading the Quran Tajweed and memorization.
Academic Emphasis • Implementing school midterm & final exams. • Attendance: Great emphasis has been placed on attendance & class participation. • Extra curricular activity: focus is on Robotics, Art & Crafts, Principal’s Reading Club, Tutoring, History Day, & GE Science Fair. • Revaluating & improving the Qur’an, Arabic, Islamic Studiesprograms.

Principal’s Concerns • We are creating a system in the school with procedures and routines so please help. • We added 2 cameras to keep an eye on the students. • Unfortunately few parents take attendance and/or missing school days lightly. • Dress code must be observed and encouraged. • Tuition payment (late fees will be applied). • Update your personal information when changed.
Principal’s Concerns • Update children’s medical information, immunization record, and other needed information. • Parents visiting classrooms and/or wandering around without informing the school office. • Students’ hygiene & eating & study habits. • Parents not following school instructions or not being courteous on the phone, or when talking to staff & teachers.
