  3. From two greek words... • PHYLO- Gk. To bring forth • GENETIC-Gk. genea "generation, race" • SO, The phylogenetic tree shows us where the race was brought forth from.

  7. Homology • Similarity between species that results from inheritance of traits from a common ancestor. • (homology is the situation created due to synapomorphys)

  8. Homology comes from ancient Greek. Its definition is... To agree • So, the shared characteristic agrees upon a common ancestor.
