Ancient Egyptian Clothing and Jewelry The men and women wore tunics that were like long T-shirts sewn to fit them The men who were working outside usually wore short skirts
Ancient Egyptian Clothing and Jewelry Cont. Linen was made out of flax that had long fibers that were spun in to thread Their clothes were usually made out of linen because it was the least expensive cloth at the time
Ancient Egyptian Clothing and Jewelry Cont. Both men and women wore gold if they could afford it Priest could not wear leather sandals or wool clothing because it was considered unclean They were often barefoot but they wore straw or leather sandals sometimes
Make Up They wore People wore Kohl eyeliner to keep the sunlight away from their eyes Both men and women wore blue and green eye shadow for special occasions
Jewelry Jewelry has played many different roles in ancient Egypt Whether you were rich or poor you wore jewelry The first type of jewelry as made out of plant branches, shells, beads, solid stones, or bones
Jewelry Cont. They were strung on flax and cow hair In the first Dynasty they made jewelry from semiprecious stones and gold and silver During the New Kingdom they made jewelry out of gold, turquoise, agate and silver
Jewelry cont. Lots of jewelry was found in tombs of kinds and other important people They found crowns and hair bands also known as wraths Jewelry was valued for not beauty only but for magical protection
Types of Jewelry The amulets were wore by both people men and women for the protection Start of the New Kingdom all social classes wore amulets Turquoise was the most common stone and it was greenish blue
Clothing Animals skins and leopard skins were sometimes wore by priest and pharaohs their role at first servants of the god At times kings and queens wore decorative or ceremonial clothing with lots of feathers
