  3. How did we intend to move the agenda forward ? • HSC Revitalising Health and Safety • HSC Strategy for Workplace Health & Safety in Great Britain to 2010 and Beyond • Public Sector Agreement Targets • DWP Welfare Reform Green Paper

  4. HOW ARE WE DOING ? • Progress towards PSA targets good • More work to do on major accidents and fatals • Targets on ill health being met

  5. How are we going to get there? • More programme led interventions • Focussing on best use of resources linked to outcomes

  6. Move towards programme led interventions To :Reduce incidence of injury, ill health and days lost How:Targeting interventions at hazards and employment sectors where incidence is highest and we can have most impact

Fit3 – PSA Targets • By 2007/2008 we need to deliver against a baseline of 2004/2005 a: • 3% reduction in the incidence rate of work-related fatal and major injuries; • 6% reduction in the incidence rate of cases of work-related ill health; • 9% reduction in the incidence rate of days lost due to work-related injuries and ill health
