  2. Before the Presidency • Went to the College of New Jersey • Graduated in 1771 • Married Dolley Payne Todd in 1794 • George Washington • A delegate for Virginia in the Continental Congress

  3. Accomplishments • Madison is considered “Father of the Constitution” • Federalist papers with John Jay and Alexander Hamilton • Constitution was not “the off-spring of a single brain but the work of many heads and many hands.” • Helped with Bill of Rights
