Objetives : • Main: • Determination of the wood´s properties of the “new promissory hybrid E. grandis x E tereticornis” , planted in Argentine • Complementary: • Comparisson with E. grandis & E. tereticornis • - Basic information for genetic breeding
Material : • - Trees from genetic assays • E. grandis x E tereticornis • References E. grandis (Argentine) • References E. tereticornis (Argentine) • (Tinto, Labate, Hernitz) • - Age : 10 years • dbh : 34 cm • heigth : 30 m • IMA : 40 m3/ha/yr aprox.

Aptitude - Structural uses(construction - poles) - Structural uses(plank m., pallets – boxes) - Furnitures (semi-heavy weight) - Gral. carpentry - joinery - Flooring(better than grandis) - Laminated panels(plywood – LVL)
Conclussions: • - The density is intermediate, close to teret. • In general, the mechanical values are higher than grandis and lower than tereticornis • - Better values of estability t/r shrinkage • - The color is rose – red , intermediate between grandis & tereticornis • The values are good for floors, and structural and general uses (furniture – houses, carpentry, etc) • good relationship density/resistance
