Journal Write:15 minutes • What do you think is the relevance of John Dunne’s revelation about Danny Santiago? • How does Dunne’s revelation change your attitude toward Chato? • What might it mean for literature to be culturally authentic? • Can a writer write truthfully from another gender’s, ethnicity’s, religious, nationality’s point of view?

Authenticity in FAoT • Guiding Question: In what ways does Famous All over Town demonstrate a sense of authenticity or trueness? • Pair work: • Find three moments in the novel at you see as authentic. • Note down the page numbers and the beginning of the passage. Use an ellipses to note the end. • Break down what is going on in this passage. Don’t simply summarize. • Break down why this supports authenticity or trueness. • Find 1-3 moments in the novel you do not see as authentic. • Repeat the process.
