Background Before setting to sea he severed for King Charles I of Spain and the king sent him to find spice island (also know as the Moluccas Island.) Also at age 12 he was given the job to be the queens messenger.
Route of exploration On his journey to Spice Island he was the first European to cross the Atlantic ocean and the Pacific but he sadly didn’t make it because he got caught in a war in the Philippines, and there he got stabbed in the foot with a poisonous arrow. After his death he got left behind on land and they bombed his boat. All of the other survivors from the war tried to get on to another boat of Magellan’s they did but later that journey that ship got stuck in a storm and the ship sunk only the other boats survived and finished the journey.
Sponsor Magellan sponsor was king Charles I because Charles wanted him to find spices on Spice Island.
Dates • Magellan journey took place from 1519-1522 unfortunately he didn’t make it. • The war started on March 28th, 1521 • The war was against the lapu-lapu army (tribe) • His death took place Mactan Island on April 21st, 1521. • On September 6th, 1522 the journey was over. They had found Spice Island and returned to Spain because there were only eighteen survivors.
Motives They went on they’re journey to find spices from spice island and to find a new route to Asia.
Impacts He fought natives but sadly died in the war from a poisonous arrow. Even though he didn’t make it around the world some of his crew did.
