NCVPS TEACHER EVALUATION PROCESS We believe this process will help us to determine the specific support and professional development you need to steer us toward our goal of World Class teachers.
Self Reflection • During the Teacher Orientation, you are asked to complete a Self Reflection rubric. • This self reflection asks you to look at the different ways you “connect” with students through announcements, discussion boards, feedback, and a variety of communication. • You also reflect on reporting grades and progress reports as well as how actively you participate in Department meetings, eLCs and professional development opportunities.
VTAP • The VTAP provides you with the opportunity to set goals and objectives that you want to focus on for the semester. These goals and objectives can be anything that you want to improve or accomplish this semester and can connect back to your Self Reflection. • You will be asked to reflect on the VTAP at a couple of key intervals, mid semester (9 weeks) and end of semester (18 weeks). This will help you determine if you are achieving your goals and objectives. • A section will be included in the Spot Check Google doc for you to briefly reflect. You will be asked to link your VTAP to your the Spot Check Google doc. This will all be stored in your Teacher Portfolio.
Teacher Conference • The conference will be conducted by either your Division Director or Instructional Leader. Each semester new teachers will participate in the conference first and the conference will be lead by Division Director. Veteran teachers will sign up to participate in the conference once a year and either the Division Director or Instructional Leader will conduct the conference. • A schedule will be set up for teachers to sign up. Your Division Director or Instructional Leader will contact you to sign up and ask you to complete a set of question prior to the conference. The link to the questions will be sent to you with the schedule for the conference. • Once the new teacher conferences are complete, all other teachers will sign up to participate in the conference.
Spot Checks • The focus of the Spot Checks is to have Instructional Leaders help us determine how well you are “connecting” asynchronously and synchronously with students using: • Virtual Classroom • IM • Documenting your communication • Accessing the course • Grading assignments and providing feedback. • The focus of Spot Checks aligns very nicely with the Self Reflection.
Coaching • The Coaching process includes feedback from your Instructional Leader at least bi-weekly and is closely related to the Spot Checks and Self Reflection. • During eLCs, coaching may come from your Course Lead or Modular Learning Specialist. • Lastly you may receive coaching from your Division Director. The Coaching process is a very important part of the support system we have in place for you.
