Kidney sections were subjected to double immunofluorescence staining with Fluorescein Lotus-tetragonolobus Lectin (LTL) to label proximal tubules (green) and synaptopodin to label podocytes (red) that wrap around the outer aspect of glomerular capillary tufts. 5 microscopic images were captured from randomly selected LTL-positive fields at 100x magnification from each kidney section. The areas of all glomeruli from each image were measured using Olympus cellSens Entry software. (b) Comparison of the calculated glomerular volumes (based on the radius derived from the area value of each measured glomerulus) of all visible glomeruli measured from each group of mice were compared between rpS6p+/+ and rpS6p-/- mice subjected to either Sham or UNX surgery.
