Metropolitan Solid Waste Management Policy Plan • MPCA Commissioner, Paul Aasen, approved the Policy Plan on April 6, 2011 • Per the Policy Plan, Master Plans are due within 9 months of Policy Plan approval (January 6, 2012)
Regional/County Solid Waste Master Plans SWMCB JPA calls for the development of Master Plan with both regional and county elements This would be the third regional master plan undertaken by the SWMCB
Forum: Powerful Players: Powerful Actions • Launch the Master Plan development with a private sector focused forum • Policy Plan: “The private sector has a significant role….. more needs to be done to ensure the activities of the private sector and the public sector are aligned to reach state goals”
Forum: Powerful Players: Powerful Actions • Forum Outcomes: • Private sector players identify what they will do to achieve the Policy Plan goals • Using ideas from the Forum, develop feasible strategies for the Master Plan that have private sector support

Strategic Planning • 2011 Approved Work Plan: Amendment #1 : Undertake a strategic planning session with Commissioners and Staff to develop a framework for future SWMCB work plans and budgets.
Strategic Planning • Identify areas of interest and priority initiatives SWMCB member counties wish to continue or undertake in the future as a region or sub region. • Provide guidance in the development of the Regional Solid Waste Master Plan and the future duties of the SWMCB.
