Up, Up, and Away! By: Alaa Abu- Mahfouz and Zaina Azam
Difficult Situation The difficult situation is placing objects or reaching objects that are out of one’s reach. One may desire to place an object to a higher position to ensure the value or betterment of the object. One may think a ladder is useful in performing this difficult task. However, a ladder will not always be stable when one is on it while holding a heavy object, such as an enormous clock which was used in the trial. That is why the “Up, Up, And Away!” invention was invented.
The Mechanical Advantage The Mechanical Advantage benefited from this invention is that placing objects to a higher position or level is not out of the question with the help of “Up, Up, and Away!” In fact, since there are two ropes being used, the invention cuts down the weight of the object that is being raised to a higher position in half. For example, if the clock raised was about 10 pounds, the invention will raise the clock to a higher position while one manually works the force of 5 pounds to lift it up.
Cost • Rope (48 feet): $3.77 • 1 hook (bolt snap): $2.24 • 1 pulley: $3.24 • A wire (with hook capability): $3.98 • Two nails (drilled into the wall): $0.99 ea. *$1.98 for two Equals: $15.21
How Much Will We Sell The Invention For? We will sell this invention for $18.99
