Emirates Airline Update AGIFORS, Airline Operations Washington May 2004
A Year of Changes • Implemented Avient’s MCS / CORE • New Crew Rostering System – AdOpt • Avient’s Crew Tracking System • Integrating Systems • Introduced ULH operations (DXB-SYD) • 8 unbudgeted A340-300s
Mission Management • There is no such thing as an optimal operation or recovery • There is suitability, prioritisation and minimising the impact of disruption – decision support • What keeps or affects aircraft moving? • A complete mission to manage • What happens on the ground? • Pre-empt delays, enable a recovery plan before a delay is a reality
Our Future – Managing Growth • How do we turn the Emirates vision and plan into reality and minimise unit cost? • Challenge the current norms • Difficult when making record profits • “Why change something that is proving to work?” • Been manageable to date, but we are currently mostly reactive • Introduce OR, gain acceptance and aim for a more proactive culture
Our Future – Managing Growth • Airport capacity constraints: • Parallel Runways, too close • Not CAT3 • Construction site • Increasing number of remote stands • Fast approaching problem – A380s
