Journalistic Writing • Choose a specific angle and have substance • Tightly written and lively: clear and precise (NO unnecessary words!) • Short paragraphs (1-3 sentences) • Narrative elements (tells a story) • Fresh and original (NO cliches or jargon) • Always begin with a “wow” statement • Concluding sentence should tie the end to the beginning Read pages 36-37 in textbook

  5. Writing Assignment • Report on a made-up incident at a NRHS school event/game • Begin by creating fake notes like on page 36 with a combination of facts and quotes that are HIGHLIGHTED • Homework: Write a 200 word article about the incident drawing on your notes and using journalistic writing.

  6. In-class Assignment • On your practice page, caption two pictures and put in a background • When you finish, you may work on your homework assignment.
