  1. FUV Design v.61 • includes realistic apertures on all mirrors • including allocation for footprint walk vs misalignments; not including physical oversizing • includes realistic thickness of substrates • aspect ratio ~5:1, conservative • performance meets goals • spectral filtering • image spot size

  2. FUV Design v.61 entrance slit = 5 x 32 mm fold mirror at AOI = 20deg flat grating, 3600 lpmm, 145mm CA

  3. FUV Design v.61 • v61 optics in pink, overlaid with mounts in v56 position • All workable: meets constraints for max total envelope, realistic optical mounts, adjustments, accessibility

  4. FUV Design v.61 LW channel: SW channel: • well-defined spectral separation at exit slits • completely separates 135.6nm and 130.4nm • 1.0 mm gap, allows margin for misalignments • completely separates 157nm and 149.3, 164.1nm • entrance slit width set is 5 x 32 mm

  5. FUV Design v.61 LW channel: SW channel: • rms spot diam = 41um ave in SW, 40um ave in LW • this easily meets our goal

  6. Path forward • open items: • Protek intensifier aperture will shadow the beam • Protek says can remove aperture entirely • maybe enlarge the hole? • turret scan mirror height • Paul to confirm height can be reduced by ~>25mm • leads to smaller, lighter scan mirror and turret • may depend on turret baffle design, will check in next 1-2 days • does not affect any other optics in design • This is final optical design, to be used going forward • tolerancing, mount design, stray light analysis, etc.

  7. Protek aperture
