Amlan Rare Pride Campaign Conservation Fellow: Anabele B. Barillo ENRD Province of Negros Oriental, Philippines
Objectives 1. To present the steps undertaken in the field as part of the Pride Campaign planning phase; 2. To present findings of qualitative research; and, 3. To share lessons learned during the conduct of meetings and qualitative research.
1. What have we done so far? a. Rare Pride Campaign Orientation with LAP b. Feedback Session with Local Partners
2. Results of Qualitative Research • K- most village people know of the presence and purpose of the MPA • A- a few believe and feel that they are part of the MPA management • IC- Very few talk about MPA • Intruders are both coming from within and outside of the village • Intrusion will be eliminated if a new guarding system will be in place
3. Lessons Learned A. Meetings B. Qualitative Research Private discussions could create confidence and are helpful in surfacing out the real issues • Conflicting schedulescould affect number of attendees • Assigning a Secretariat (MENRO) speeds up the process • Arriving at a consensus is difficult esp. during the 1st meeting
