The catacombs or “les Carrieres de Paris “are subterranean system of tunnels in room holding 5 to 6 billion of Paris's “permanent residents” from all different grave yards.
The catacombs were started in 1786 by M Thiroux de Crosne and the Inspector General of Quarries, Charles Axel Guillaumot due to a widespread illness in Les Halles district due to contamination from corpses in un proper graves, all bodies were moved organized and this help to reclaim land

Ghost Stories • Visitors have claimed that they were ” touched by unseen hands “, others claim to have had the sensation of being followed, cold spots in certain areas a few cases of hysterical breakdowns, a few others have claimed to have been strangled. With the disruption and disrespect of the dead, it’s now wonder the streets below Paris are haunted.
The catacomb walls are covered in graffiti dating from the 18th century onwards.
