Battle of the Budget Made by: Franchesca Allan, Morgan Schroeder, Rachel Minzner, Ashley Johnson, and Noelle Szydlowski Mrs. Hoctor’s Advanced Language Arts We are in a sticky situation!!
Problem/ Solution • Problem: Each year, Lakota is getting more and more students while the same amount of money is coming in to fund the district. We have been getting the same amount of money since 2005. • Solution: Since most other Ohio school districts are losing kids and are still getting funded, the state should shift some of the money to the Lakota district.
Sources of Assistance • 1. www.lakotaonline.com • 2. http://news.cincinnati.com • 3. Ohio Department of Education
Sources of Resistance • These are some people that may not like our ideas! • 1. Ohio Department of Education, because it will be a lot of work on their part! • 2. The other Ohio school districts, because we will be taking some of their money for our schools.
Our Plan! • Step one: We are going to do research and find out how many people currently go to the schools, And how many students they are gaining or loosing. • Step two: See how much money the schools are getting every year for each student. • Step three: Promote the idea to the Ohio Department of Education. . Tell them our information . Tell them how it would help.
What our Chart proves • Our chart proves that Lakota has had a constant Increase since 1995. It also proves that Lakota is a fast growing community.
Lakota is only getting the same amount of money each year but have a very fast growing rate. Mason is getting 1,901$ less for each student but we are getting nothing for all the students. Also Mason Has lost about 70 students in the last couple of years, they are still getting money for each student. So they could probably give the Lakota district a little money because at least they are still getting money for the new students. In Princeton they spend 13,295 per student each year. They could also transport some of their money for Our school district, because we spend 9,991 dollars per student but we don’t get anymore money for all the new students. Hamilton only has 4,518 students but are still getting money for each student, we have 18,359 students that is a huge difference. Just with these three schools we could get a lot of money!
