  2. What we have learnt • Different school systems • Keep an open mind about art- informal learning • Outdoor possibilities • Aesthetical aspect indoor and outdoor • Learning styles, Howard Gardner’s use in Denmark

  3. Transition • Similarities and differences in the transition processes amongst our group. • In Denmark there appears to be a big leap from kindergarten to school, could this be addressed in a uniform way?? • Is this issue being resolved already?

  4. Our transition… Home Life Denmark Experience • Met new people in a new environment • Used skills like children do - becoming comfortable in our environment • Taking our education from home and adapting our learning to Denmark experience

  5. Outdoor play… • Great inspiration from the outdoor experiences we have had • Hope to use this experience in our own practice at home • Outdoor play as a transition skill to help kindergarten children learn through play in the school environment • Is our learning a form of transition?

  6. Extra visits... • Kindergarten visit – children from 0-6 years.Star shaped building. • Gave a good comparison to the House of Children setting. • Less affluent area – different nationality of children (20) • Great outdoor space • Transition work with four schools, can sometimes be problematic.

  7. Extra visits... • Back to Nordvang school! • Took part in dance class and outdoor lesson • Nice to see lessons in practice

  8. In summary • A great experience • Highlighted further the difference in transition methods and how different approaches can work. • Good to share experiences to gain insight into different approaches • Informal learning important to children, should always be valued by adults • We are very grateful for this experience • Now time for a sing song...

  14. Then we went to school And kindergarten too Multiple intelligence Howard Gardner’s cool The outdoors was great It was good to see The children interacting With each other perfectly

  29. Transition is the core But we’ve learnt so much more Six nationalities We’ve all got great ideas Friendships we have made In contact we can stay And Facebook is our way We don’t have more to say
