A day of Global Solidarity – Walking with inongejuly 5, 2011
Daily inonge carries water from an unprotected well 1 km back to her home
This is inonge’s grandmother – she is pounding kasava root for future use
This is inonge’s grandfather who is lame We assume Inonge’s parents have died of AIDS although we do not know that for sure-Inonge is one of so many children in Zambia living with grandparents, aunts, older or younger siblings without parents
INONGE WALKS 1 ½ HOURS TO SCHOOL on an empty stomach and then she walks 1 ½ hours home again. The temperature is 40+ Degrees Celsius
INONGE’S SCHOOL-there are no books other than one for the teacher
despite the challenges, inonge continues to strive for the education that will help her to create her own future. She is surrounded at school and in community by warm and supportive adults who believe in her. Let’s walk together-
Kaz day of global solidarity • To act in solidarity with the Orphans/Vulnerable Children that we sponsor in Senanga who live such challenging lives – as Inonge – we will spend one day experiencing some of their challenges. • We will walk 90 minutes in the morning – fast for the day – then walk 90 minutes again in the late afternoon-likely in the heat-tired and hungry. • This will help us to understand what life is like for these children. However we have clean water to drink, we have comfortable homes to return to and we have well paying jobs to work at. We are so fortunate . • Please join us in our day of solidarity with Inonge and her fiends/ classmates. If you are willing to spend the day with us, you are very welcome. If you are able to support our work in Senanga by pledging even a little – you will know you are making a difference in Zambia. • THANK YOU
