The New Way Integrated Stakeholders
IBDA IBDA calls for architects and engineers to work as a team in order to integrate practices at the outset to achieve energy efficiency. The goal of applying IBDA is to achieve high performance and multiple benefits at a lower cost than the total for all the components combined if these were considered separately.

Energy Conserving Building to demonstrate EE, RE, IBDA,code compliance in Thailand
Tactics Used in Energy Conserving Building • Extensive use of micro-climate
Tactics & Technologies Used • Observation area for plant engineers, walkway for general public, and thermal storage display
Tactics & Technologies Used • Passive devices: evaporative cooling pond to cool façade • Hot water loops of AC system de-superheated in pond • Walkway allows discussion of exterior to students and has “visual accommodation” porch
Tactics & Technologies Used • Extensive use of modeling (DOE-2 and lighting modeling) • Naturally illuminated • Use of high albedo (white reflective) materials, light shelves, etc.

What Possible Strategies Might Be Useful in Armenia? • Air locks at entries • Insulation • CFLs and lighting technologies • Break all thermal bridges • Better architectural details for such things as insulation • Decide the energy budget and model energy use in design stages
A Working Group May Be Created • University + Builders Union + Architects Union of Armenia: Develop training modules and curricula for IBDA and EE for students and practicing professionals • Builders Union will also: Provide input on builders’ perspective and “what is possible” in Armenian context
