What you need to know about …. • Assessment tasks/events provide students with the opportunity to show their skills and knowledge • “Competence” means a studentcan perform tasks to the level required by industry • Competent / not yet competent • Vocational qualifications • Statement of Attainment • Certificate I, II or III • For my course is ….

Work placement • mandatory70 hours • organised by a work placement service eg Career Links, Hunter Valley Youth Express, Youth Connections • details and arrangements provided by your teacher and your local work placement coordinator • students are not paid • if you do not complete work placement you will not have the course recognised by the Board of Studies. This may mean that you will not receive your HSC.

  9. Recognition of Prior Learning or Current Competencies What does RPL/RCC mean? When do I apply for RPL/RCC? How do I apply for RPL/RCC? • complete the application form • attach relevant evidence such as competency • records, a result notice or certificate • submit to your teacher. • RPL panel will review and check that your skills / • knowledge are at an appropriate industry standard. • the decision will be discussed with you and written • response provided.

Course Costs For this course the cost is $$$ This includes the cost of materials used in class Other costs may include: • safety clothing / uniforms • equipment • work placement travel • A refund may be considered depending upon the reasons for withdrawal from the course and the amount of the course completed

  15. Appeals Process • informal approach • teacher’s direct supervisor will mediate • formal appeals process by writing to the Principal • appeals panel • further appeal to Hunter Central Coast Registered Training Organisation.
