“Rules” for the Sketchbook Warm Up • ….At the start of every class there will be a new image you will respond to… • DIRECTIONS: • You must use a new page in your sketchbook each day • front to back is fine • The date must be at the top of each page. • Pages must be in order • Which means that if you are absent you will need to leave a blank page(s). When you get back go back and do the one(s) you missed. • Must fill up a whole page with writing, sketching, etc. • in response to the image each day. • At least once a week, you must use color.
Pablo Picasso The Picasso’s Blue Period: Picasso began to produce works that were SUFFUSED in blue. Blue is effective in conveying a SOMBRE tone. The psychological trigger for these depressing paintings was the suicide of Picasso's friend Casagemas. You should know that Picasso was still in his late teens (!), away from home for the first time, and living in very poor conditions.
