Board of County Commissioner’s Employee Service Awards • Today’s honorees are recognized for outstanding service and dedication:
Noel Todd Krause20 Years • Todd was born in Trenton, NJ then moved to Texas where he graduated from Klein High School in Spring, TX. • After moving to Central Florida, Todd was hired in 1985 by the Convention Center Technical Services Section. • He worked as a part-time Stage-hand for two years before becoming a full-time Telephone Administrator.
Todd Krause – 20 Years • Todd has also worked as a Rigging Coordinator and as the Head Electrician for the Linda Chapin Theatre. • He was part of the original team that brought the Linda Chapin Theatre online. • He has been married to Debbie for 8 months. • In his spare time, Todd enjoys traveling, especially to Western North Carolina. • He is also a board member of his homeowner’s association. *
Johnny Shaw - 20 Years • Johnny was born in Kingstree, SC and moved to Central Florida in 1971. • He graduated from Eustis High School, Valencia Community College and Columbia College. • Johnny was hired by Orange County in 1988 to work in Corrections. • He was promoted to Corporal in 2000 and Sergeant in 2004.
Johnny Shaw – 20 Years • Johnny has served as a Certified Public Supervisor and Public Manager. He is also a Certified Jail Manager. • Johnny has one son: Michael. • In his spare time, he enjoys fishing, gardening, and photography. Johnny also volunteers his time at his church and serves as a visitation member for a nursing home. *
Sheila Renee Montgomery - 20 Years • Sheila was born in Danvers, MA and moved to Central Florida in 1985. • She graduated from Edgewater High School. • Sheila was hired in 1988 to work as a Dockets Clerk in Inmate Records. • She earned promotions to Correctional Service Officer, Status Release Officer, Inmate Records Assistant Shift Supervisor and Business Unit Systems Analyst.
Sheila Montgomery – 20 Years • Sheila has received numerous Team Awards. • She has worked at various positions involving all aspects of inmate control including release, bond, booking and judicial. • She is married to Michael, a Correctional Officer, and they have one daughter: Emilie, 6, who attends Ocoee Elementary School. • In her spare time, Sheila volunteers at Ocoee Elementary and Good Homes Pre-School. • She enjoys spending time with her family and loves to watch movies and swim. *
Margaret Gail Tyree - 30 Years • Gail was born and raised in Orlando. • She graduated from Boone High School, Orlando Junior College and the Orlando School of Court Reporting. • Gail was hired in 1978 to work in the Zoning Department as an Administrative Assistant. • She was promoted to Zoning Specialist where she has supervised a number of projects and programs.
Gail Tyree – 30 Years • Gail has directed the activities of the Code Enforcement Board, served as Lead Person on the County’s First Communication’s Tower Code; Lead Person on the Adult Entertainment Code Board; and she mediates citizen disputes. • Gail has received numerous awards including: Employee of the Month (1994); Division Director Award (1995); NACo Award for establishment of the Communication Tower Code; Chairman’s Award; Green-Up Orlando Volunteer Award; Community Service Award for “Paint the Town”; and Citizen’s Choice Award.
Gail Tyree – 30 Years • Gail has one son: Brian; and two grandchildren: Hayley, 14; and Nathan, 16. • Gail is very involved in volunteer activities: Ronald McDonald House; Great Oaks Village and community education programs. • In her spare time, Gail plays the guitar, bongos and African Djembe drums in a local drum circle and she loves music and dance. • Gail considers herself a champion air hockey player; amateur boxer; exercise fanatic and occasionally dabbles in 3D art where she’s won several awards. • She is active with the New World Celts organization and assists with the National Tartan Day. *
Mitchell Gordon - 25 Years • Mitch was born in Queens, NY and moved to Central Florida in 1974. • He graduated from Winter Park High School and the University of Florida with a degree in Economics and a Master’s in Urban Planning. • Mitch was hired in 1993 to work in the Planning Department. In 1997, he transferred to the Zoning Division.
Mitchell Gordon – 25 Years • Mitch has been married to Bridget for 24 years. • They have three children: Brittany, 23, a UF grad headed to the University of Chicago Law School this fall; Samantha, 20 a Senior at UF; and Shannon, 15, attending private school in Alexandria, VA. • Mitch is an “out-of-control” Gator fan and he hasn’t missed a home game in 30 years. • Little known fact about Mitch – he’s a distant cousin to Rodney Dangerfield and works real hard to get respect. *
Lenzo Murrell - 35 Years • Lenzo was born in Blakely, GA and moved to Central Florida in 1973. • He graduated from Early County High School and served six years in the Army Reserves. • He has attended Valencia Community College, Orlando Vo-Tech, Florida Christian College and Rollins College.
Lenzo Murrell – 35 Years • Lenzo was hired by Orange County in 1973 as a Maintenance Person II. • He was promoted to Trades Helper, Traffic Signal Technician II & III and Acting Foreman. • He is currently a Senior Engineering Technician IV. • He is very knowledgeable in software applications pertinent to Traffic Control. • Lenzo was responsible for the development of a special manual relay device to control traffic around the Convention Center.
Lenzo Murrell – 35 Years • Lenzo also developed an automatic resetting device for use with the City of Orlando to create an emergency backup flash signal device. • He states that he has enjoyed serving the citizens of Orange County in improving traffic movement, making it as efficient as possible. • Lenzo has been married for 23 years to Geraldine, and they have two children: Aaron, 21; and Timothy, 14. • His hobbies include: playing checkers, basketball, horseback riding and helping others budget their finances. *
David D. Gold - 35 Years • Dave was born in Miami and moved to Central Florida in 1972. • He graduated from Miami High School and in 1991 he completed the Fun World Clown College. • David was hired in 1973 to work in the Public Works Highway Department. • He worked in the Highway Department until 1980, when he transferred to the Traffic Engineering Division.
David Gold – 35 Years • David has worked on several key projects including: Upgrading signage in many subdivisions and in the City of Eatonville. • He has one son: David John. • David collects United States coins. • He has also done missionary work in the Dominican Republic with Eastside Baptist Church. *
David C. Heath - 25 Years • David was born in Dillon, SC and moved to Orlando in a covered wagon. • He graduated from Colonial High School (before Colonial Drive was paved). • He has a Bachelor’s from Florida State and a Master’s from UCF. • David was hired in 1983 to work in Capital Facilities to develop transportation impact fees.
David Heath – 25 Years • David has worked as Assistant Manager and Manager of the Planning Division before becoming a Deputy County Administrator in 2001. • He also serves a Chairman of the Orange County Development Review Committee. • David is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Institute of Certified Planners, the American Planning Association, the Urban Land Institute and the Florida Planning and Zoning Association. • David has been married to May for 27 years and they have one daughter: Kristin, who attends UCF. • In this spare time, David enjoys anything FSU related; running, shopping with Kristin (???) and taking ballroom dancing lessons so he and May can compete on Dancing with the Stars! *
