The Trail of Tears • 1830- Indian Removal Act • Cherokee’s from Georgia were forced from their homes and marched to Oklahoma • 1,000 mile expedition • Over 4,000 Cherokee died en route
Nez Perce War • US government takes back 7.5 million acres of Nez Perce land • Nez Perce retreat for help to fight for their land • Stopped at Snake Creek, start of the 5 day battle of the Nez Perce war “I am tired; my heart is sick and sad.
