Thriller Conventions In our thriller we use this convention as the film is based on a murder and all These items that are in the shots can be used easily to murder, this is a connotation of Violence. The golf Club and lighter fluid are purposely put in the shot to give the viewers an idea that the film is of the genre of a thriller. The shots Used are extreme close ups to make sure the viewer is only focused on one thing.
The use of micro elements We used this convention in our thriller, with the shot of Olly scraping each knife either side of each other to create a sound that is harsh for the ears, with the Tense music in the background this would give the viewers a feel of a thriller. The shot used is an over the shoulder shot so the character cannot be scene so as not to give away their identity, this creates mystery to the viewers making them feel intrigued to find out who the mentalist really is.
Themes of identity We use this convention by having lots of pictures on the wall of the main characters shed some of the photos are crossed out and some are not this identifies who has been crossed off his list and murdered. We used a panning shot to film this bit of footage as it gives the viewer a sense of first person viewing, the use of this and the flashbacks will confuse the viewer and intrigue them to want to watch more and find out who the people are on the walls of his shed.
Protagonist/Antagonist We used this convention, as our main character has a phobia of his child hood memories. This Is an Achilles heel and this is the characters weak point. The main character is scarred as he looks back at his child hood memories and only remembers the bad part of his past, This is a trigger of his Achilles heel, due to what the antagonists have done to him from his past.
The use of shadows • In the thriller we see this convention used, when the gardening tool is shown as we can see a shadow passes across the room, this creates mystery to the viewer as they wonder what the killer is doing. This lets the imagination of the viewers run wild as anything could be happening.
