Names for ethnic groups • Think of -анин as consisting of -ан (meaning ‘inhabitants of place X’) + -ин (meaning ‘one’) • Other examples of -ин meaning ‘one’ • штаны, штанина; горох, горошина; песок, песчина; брюки, брюквина; мак, маковина; осьмина • Npl -e, Gpl has zero ending, otherwise they are regular
