  2. WHITE BELT Song – “Hot Cross Buns” Pitches – G A B in the treble clef Rhythms: • Meter is 4/4 • Half notes and rests • Quarter Notes too

  3. YELLOW BELT Song- “Gently Sleep” Pitches – G A B Rhythms: • Quarter and Half Notes • Breath Mark is a comma – connect the measures (or phrases of music) • Play softly

  4. ORANGE BELT Song – Merrily We Roll Along Pitches – G A B Rhythm: • Quarter notes, Half notes and rests • A familiar tune for review of what we’ve learned so far. 

  5. GREEN BELT Song – “It’s Raining” Pitches: G A B and E (right hand is now used!) Rhythms: • Quarters, Half and EIGHTH NOTES • Remember Eighth notes get ½ a beat • We count them 1 &, or tee- tee) • You will need to PRACTICE NOW! 

  6. PURPLE BELT Song – “Old MacDonald Had A Farm Pitches: G A B E and D Rhythms: • Quarters notes and RESTS, Half, Eighths and a DOTTED HALF • Remember dotted half note = 3 counts

  7. BLUE BELT Song – “When The Saints Go Marching In” Pitches: G A B D and C Rhythms: • Quarters, Half and dotted Half and WHOLE • Ties – a tie is a curved line which connects notes of the same pitch. Only the first note I played and then it’s held for the total value of the connected notes.

  8. RED BELT Song – “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” Pitches: G A B E F# and lowD Key Signature: • Sharps(#) and flats(b), when placed at the beginning of a line, are for all pitches (lines/spaces) the sharps and flats are marked on. This is called a key signature.

  9. BROWN BELT Song – “Amazing Grace” Pitches: G A B E D and D’ Rhythms: • Single eighth note (1/2 a beat) • Dotted quarter note (1 ½ beats) • Fermata – above a note means that the note is held a little longer than its usual count.

  10. BLACK BELT – YIPPY!!!! Song – “Ode To Joy” Pitches – G A B C D D’ Rhythms: • Quarters, Half, Eighths, Dotted and Tied notes CONGRATULATIONS IF YOU HAVE GOTTEN HERE! YOUR HARD WORK AND PRACTICE HAS PAID OFF!!! 
