History 1987the first step for Biomedical Engineering in Iran by the hand-cybernetics project and establishing Biomedical Engineering Laboratory in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering 1989 has won the Kharazmi prize for cybernetic hand 1994 Establishment of the first Biomedical Engineering Faculty at AUT with M.Sc. and Ph.D. programs in Bioelectric, Biomechanics and Biomaterials. 1995 Establishment of Bachelor programs starting with Bioelectrics field and then continued with Biomechanics and Biomaterials. 2004 Started online programs with Master program for the Management of Biomedical Informatics and then for Biomaterials and Tissue Eng.

  5. Biomedical Engineering DepartmentAn Overview • Collaboration of more than 37full time academic staff. • Approximately 515 B.Sc. students, 198 M.Sc. students, and 156 Ph.D. students majoring in 3 main groups in undergraduate and 7 groups in graduate level.

  10. Centers of Excellence: • Biomedical Engineering Department holds the center of excellent for 3 groups as follows: • Center of excellence for Biomecanical Engineering • Center of excellence for Biomaterial Engineering • Center of excellence for Bioelectrical Enginering

Areas of Cooperation: • Joint Supervision of M.Sc. and Ph.D. Research Work. • Joint Establishment of Research Labs. • Joint Research on Projects and Issues of Mutual Interest. • Conduct of Short Courses/Programs. • Field Studies and Visits, with the Purpose of Transfer of Science and Technology. • Providing Field and/or Laboratory Training to Foster the Hands-on Experience for Researchers and Students. • Exchange of Faculty Members for Sabbatical Leave, Research and Educational Collaborations.
