  2. Dignity at Work Bullying behaviour may be characterised as offensive, intimidating, malicious or insulting behaviour, an abuse or misuse of power through means intended to undermine, humiliate, denigrate or injure the recipient

  3. Dignity at Work Harassment, in general terms, is unwanted conduct affecting the dignity of men and women in the workplace. It may be related to age, sex, race, disability, religion or belief, sexual orientation, nationality or any personal characteristic of the individual, and may be persistent or an isolated incident. The key is that the actions or comments are viewed as demeaning and unacceptable to the recipient

  4. Dignity at Work Protection against victimisation extends to those who • make a complaint • give evidence in support of others • give assistance to others in making a complaint • make allegations in good faith

  5. Dignity at Work Employers are liable for the actions of their workers unless they can show that they have taken all reasonable steps to prevent any kind of discrimination, bullying or harassment from taking place

  6. Dignity at Work Practical steps • develop and implement effective policies • deal promptly with complaints • provide support through assistance and counselling • monitor the policy • provide training
