Blinis Kasha Breakfast Fried Eggs Butterbrots • Symbol of the sun • Made with yeasted batter • Baked in a traditional Russian oven • Bowl of Porridge • Made from buckwheat's • Good source of fiber • It has butter, milk, salt, and sugar • Made like traditional fired eggs. • Russian Cook “Egg in a basket”. • Often topped with bacon, ham, salt pork, org other cold cuts • Bread with butter • Often used with fruit, jam, or chocolate spread • Usually ate with a single slice of cold meat of cheese

  4. Lunch soups Ukha Borscht • Tomatoes soup • Eaten hot or cold • A broth made from fish

  5. Dinner • One or two appetizers and a hot main dish • Potatoes, Meat, or fish

  6. Basturma • Usually eaten with potatoes

  7. Drinks Tea • Homemade juice • Assortments of fruits and thick syrup • Usually made out of apples, pears, and prunes • Symbol of hospitality • Drunk in the afternoon • Russians love Black tea

  8. Desserts Alenka Chocolate • Russian original sweets • Honey bread was enjoyed in ancient Egypt and came to Russia in the 9th century • Not the tastiest chocolate, but recognized • The winner was a photo of a 8 month girl Gingerbread

  9. Pastries Lymonnk Syrniki • Fried quark pancakes • Topped with sour cream, jam, and honey • Syrniki comes from the word “ Cheese” • Similar to the Lemon pie
